The Obsidian Vein

Obsidian Vein is a sculptural floor lamp shaped by two forces that rarely leave anything behind: lightning and fire. Its twisting column carries a glass-black char across most of its surface, split by warm veins of golden grain that survived the burn. That contrast gives the piece its name — dark as volcanic glass on the outside, alive underneath.

Suspended within the wood's open curve hangs a crystal glass light column. When lit, it throws a soft glow across the charred ridges and pulls the golden veins out of the shadow, so the piece reads differently from every angle and every hour of the day. Off, it stands as pure sculpture. On, it becomes the quietest source of drama in the room.

Mounted on a custom round steel base, Obsidian Vein is built to anchor an entryway, a great room corner, or a collector's space that calls for one commanding vertical form. Like every Wildfires' piece, it is one of one — found in Utah's high mountains, never replicated.
